A new leader was appointed to take
over an existing management team. Although
expecting teething problems, some 18
months later the team was still not
functioning at the level he wanted.
A series of “Step Back, Step
Up, Step Forward” workshops was
drawn up, to be run over a 12 month
period. Interviews with all team members
highlighted the issues as they perceived
them and allowed Blaire to gain an insight
into the obstacles they faced. The programme
overcame these by developing a modern
leadership style among the team, helping
them to generate ideas and solutions
and create an environment where the
team trusted the leader’s style
and enjoyed working together.
After only six months, the improvements
in the team dynamic were there for all
to see. After 12 months, none of the
participants could believe how much
they had achieved. Members had greater
self-awareness, respect for their colleagues
and for their leader and are all now
actively contributing to the running
of the site.
